"My third day of school and I am already sick of it." I told myself as I layed back in my chair in Yearbook class. I was chosen to take pictures and interview students all year. I also got stuck taking votes for the Yearbook Awards.
"How is everything going? Happy with your assignments?"
I smiled when I looked up and noticed Toby was sitting in the seat in front of me.
"Yeah." I said.
"Cool." He said. "If you ever need help with anything, let me know." He was smiling so big. It was so hot.
"Thanks. I'll uh. . . keep that in mind." I said. I could feel myself blushing and I felt like an idiot.
He smiled and walked off.

When school was out, I saw Darren sitting under a tree. It looked like he was doing homework. He wasn't wearing his glasses and he just had his white undershirt on. I noticed his ugly button up shirt sitting on the grass next to him neatly folded.
"Long time no see." I said walking up to him.
He looked up squinting. "Hey."
"Did you get contacts?" I asked giggling.
"No." He said. "But I did make my Mom make me an appointment for tomorrow so I could test for some."
"Where are your glasses then?" I asked.
He laughed. He pulled them out of his pocket and put them on.
I giggled. "You're silly."
"I'm trying something new. I'm seizing the moment." He said.
I laughed, "You dork."
"I quit the chess club." He said. "The guys are pissed. It's great."
I sat down next to him. "Why'd you do that?"
"Eh." He said holding his arms up. He closed his book. "I'm just sick of it. They are no competition anyway."
I giggled. "I see."
"I use to be cool at one time." He said smiling. "I use to skateboard a lot. It was like my life."
"Really?" I asked surprised.
"I was competing and everything." He said. "But then my Mom made me quit, everything was so different when my Dad died. She feared the rest of us getting hurt. We were all really into the church too, so I got even more into that. So all I focused on was church and school."
"Wow." I said.
He laughed. "I was never into boarding."
"You liar!" I laughed pushing him in the arm.
"It was definatly a dream of mine, but I never actually tried it." He laughed. His laugh was so funny and contagious.
"You are so full of shit." I laughed.
"The rest was true though." He said.
I stood up. "We're going shopping. Take me to the nearest mall."
"What?" He asked laughing.
"We're buying you a skateboard. You have no idea how hot it will make you." I said.
"Me? I don't think I'll look hot on my ass after flying off a skateboard. It may draw attention to me, but not in a good way." He said.
I laughed and grabbed his arm. "Get up." I giggled.
"You're crazy." He said.
"You said yourself you want to change. Well, basically anyway. So, come on. You always wanted to skateboard, so you're going to skateboard." I said.
He gave me a weird look.
"Now!" I laughed. "Come on." I wined.
"Fine." He said laughing.
