Sarah said...

"You suck." I laughed as Darren totally missed my mouth trying to throw a peice of popcorn into it.
"Do I?" He asked.
"Dweeb." I said.
"Oh great. You're calling me that too now?" He said.
"No." I laughed. "I'm sorry. I forgot about that. . ."
"It's okay." He said with a smile. "I give you permission to call me that."
I giggled.
"Oh!" He said digging through his backpack. He pulled a beanie out of the front pocket and put it on.
"That's hot." I said.
"My friend Twig that I grew up with is moving, so he gave me a bunch of his stuff to go through. I knew you'd like this." He said.
I started laughing.
"What?" He asked. "You don't like it?"
"Your friends name is Twig?" I asked.
He laughed. "Terrance Wiggin. We've called him Twig since Elementary School."
"Do you find me attractive?" I asked him.
"Of course." He said. "Haven't I already told you you were beautiful?"
I nodded smiling. "Nobody has ever told me I'm beautiful before." I said.
"Really?" He asked.
"Really." I said.
"Honestly, do I have the potential of being attractive?" He asked.
I looked him up and down. "Definatly." I said.
"What don't you like?" He asked.
"The button up shirts you wear sometimes." I said.
"That's it?" He asked.
"Yup. You look pretty amazing today, if you ask me." I said.
"You're teaching me who I am." He said.
"No, you're teaching yourself. I'm just giving you a push." I said.
He smiled. "Will you take me shoe shopping? All of my shoes are starting to look old."
"That first day I saw you, you were wearing Converse Allstars." I said. "You are NOT getting rid of those."
He laughed. "You like them?"
"Duh!" I laughed.
"I can get a new pair." He said.
"You should, but keep the old ones. Everyone should own an old pair." I said.
"Okay." He said.
"You should get a pair of Globes too." I said.
"What are those?" He asked.
"Skate shoes. They're hot." I said.
He laughed and nodded. "Okay."
I smiled at him and he blushed as he turned his head away.
"I think it's important that you don't stop hanging out with your friends." I blurted out.
"What?" He asked.
"You don't wanna be that guy." I said. "You should never become too good for your old friends."
"I'm not. We're suppose to play poker Saturday." He said.
"Good." I smiled.
"I'll never be that guy." He said.
"Good." I said again.
"How did this happen?" He asked.
"What?"
He laughed. "You. How the hell did I end up hanging out with you?"
"You sat down with me at lunch." I giggled.
"Yeah. . ." He said smiling. "It was the only spot with shade."
"Hey!"
"And there was a beautiful girl at the table in the shade. How could I pass that up?" He said smiling.
"Aww."
He just laughed.
"It was cute. Super cute." I said.
"I was nervous."
"I could tell." I said.
"Great." He laughed.
"You were charming though. I liked that." I said.
"Thanks."
"You're even more charming now." I said.
He smiled.
"I'm serious." I said.
I noticed him swallow hard, then stare down at the floor. "Yeah." He said pointing out in front of him. "I was dumb last night."
"I agree." I said.
"Shush." He laughed blushing.
I stood up and turned facing him.
"You're scaring me. Again." He said. "I should go." He stood up and picked up his backpack.
"How long has it been since you've had sex?" I asked him.
"What?" He asked.
"How long?"
"A long time." He said.
"Hmm."
"I'll see you at school tomorrow." He said.
"I guess you're being dumb again." I said.
"Maybe." He shrugged. "But, at the same time, smart." He waved and left.
