Chapter 16

Sarah said...

"Good Morning, beautiful lady." Jordan said coming up behind me. He put his arms around me. I giggled. "So, we're going public?" I asked.
"Sure. Why not?" He said. He let go of me and started walking beside me. He grabbed my hand as we walked up the stairs.
"Jordan!" A girl shouted with excitement. She ran over to him and hugged him, pretty much pushing me out of the way. I gave her a dirty look and she let go of him. "How are you?" She asked him.
"Good, good." He said. "How was your summer?"
"It was so amazing." She said. "I'm tellin' ya, you shoulda been there."
He laughed. "Yeah yeah yeah."
"Wait till you see the pictures." She said.
"I see the tan and I'm likin' it." He said looking down at her legs. She lifted her left leg up smiling.
"I know, right?" She said.
I nudged him with my elbow.
"Oh, Kim. This is Loralai." He said.
She just smiled. "I'll see you guys around. Oh, and Jordan, swing by my place after school and I'll show you all my pictures from the trip."
I interlocked my arm with Jordan's smiling at her.
She smiled at him. "Well, see ya."
"Who was she?" I asked as I looked back watching her shake her boney toosh back and forth as she walked away.
"Jelous?" He asked smiling.
I rolled my eyes. "Well, you shouldn't be checking out her legs."
He laughed and put his arm around me. He walked me to class. He kissed me on the cheek and I sat down at my desk. I swear Mr. Bringman's comb-over was looking worse and worse every day. That class went by so slowly, I was actually starting to fall asleep. Everything he had went over in that class so far, I had already knew.

In English class, I was teamed up with Darren to write a report on how to build a bottle rocket.
"Do you know how to build a bottle rocket?" I asked him.
"Yeah." He said. "Where do you want to meet to work on the report?"
"You can't just write it? I don't know anything about it." I said.
"Oh." He said. "Yeah, I guess." He smiled and turned around facing the chalkboard.
"I'm sorry, that was rude." I said. "Just come by my place tonight."
"Nah, it's okay. I can write it." He said.
"No." I giggled. "I won't be learning anything that way. You can explain it all to me, so I understand it."
He laughed. "It's okay. The point of the assignment isn't to learn how to build it."
The bell rang and everyone jumped up to go to lunch. "Come over at six." I told him.
"Alright." He said.
"You better be there." I said pointing at him. He laughed and nodded. I started to walk away, then walked back to him.
"Join me for lunch?" I asked.
"Sure." He said.
Neither of us were very hungry, so we each got a bag of chips from the snack machine. We sat down in the grass against the academic building.
"I saw you with Jordan this morning." He said.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Are you like with him, with him?" He asked.
"I guess we're dating now." I said.
He nodded.
I just giggled.
He sighed.
"When do you get your contacts?" I asked.
"They gave me a trial box yesterday." He said.
"Why aren't you wearing them?" I asked.
"They're kind of hard to put it and I got up late this morning." He laughed.
"Oh." I laughed.
"Shut up you." He said.
"Why do I never see you with other people?" I asked.
He shrugged. "My friends are all at the library during lunch." He said. "And between classes, they are rushing to their next one."
I laughed.
"I know." He said. "Plus, they're all pissed at me and calling me a trader."
"What?"
"Yeah, it's lame." He said. "And my friend Keith is really jelous that I'm hanging out with you. He told me I'm an idiot for getting involved with you."
"Why?"
"You're pretty." He said.
I laughed. "Alright then. . ."
"He just assumes that as soon as you start getting to know the popular people, that you'll be too good for me." He explained.
"So far anyone popular that I've met, I didn't like much. Aaron and Jordan are okay, but ALL of the girls suck." I said.
He laughed.
"I'm not gonna do that to you." I said.
"I know." He said. He stood up. "I'll see you tonight."
"Okay." I said.
