Sarah said...

"Good Morning." Aaron said when we ran into eachother in the hall.
"Morning." I said.
"What's wrong? Is it Jordan?"
"No. Nothing. I'm fine." I said.
"You'd tell me, right?" He asked.
"Yes, I would tell you." I said. "He's been really nice. I'm just tired."
"Okay." He said running down the stairs ahead of me.
"Kim, I don't feel well." I lied holding on my stomach.
"Oh no, does it feel like a stomach flu?" She asked.
I nodded.
"Go back to bed." She said. "I'll bring you up some soup in a little bit."
"Okay." I said.
I went back up to my room. I was embarassed to see Darren, so I decided to pretend I was sick so I could skip school. I layed in bed watching The Price Is Right. Kim brought me some soup and water before she headed to work. I took a nap for a few hours. The doorbell woke me up. I went downstairs and peaked out the window. It was Darren.
I sighed. "What the hell?" I sighed again and opened the door.
"Why aren't you in school?" He asked.
"Why aren't YOU in school? I asked.
"I ditched." He said.
"I'm sick."
"You don't look sick." He said.
"Well, I am."
"Can I come in?" He asked.
"Yeah." I said. I opened the door wider and he walked in. I sat down on the couch in the living room.
"I'm sorry about last night." He said. "I feel bad. I should have just stayed. I was having fun."
"It's okay." I said. "But, what did you mean when you said you weren't like me?"
He shrugged and sat down next to me. "Popular, beautiful, adventurous." He said.
"I'm popular?" I asked.
"You have the look." He said.
"You need to stop stereotyping people." I said.
"Everyone does it to me." He said.
"I hate that shit." I said.
"It's not really something you can help." He said.
"It's also not something you need to be a part of." I said.
"Oh me? You met me and wanted to set me up with some dull chick with absolutely no personality whatsoever." He said. "You saw me as a dork, so you wanted to set me up with another dork."
"I didn't know." I said.
"She's not attractive." He said.
"I'm sorry."
"I'm just saying. You do it too." He said.
"I don't mean to." I said.
"None of us do." He said.
I just shrugged.
"It's true." He said.
"Okay." I said.
"So, why didn't you want to come to school today?" He asked.
"I feel silly about yesterday." I said.
"Well, there's no reason to." He said.
"I was being dumb."
He laughed. "Nah. We were having fun and I ruined it." He said. "Guess what? I threw away my glasses."
I laughed. "Why?"
"They were ugly." He said. "I didn't really care much before and I just let my Mom pick them out."
"Are you starting to care about more now?" I asked.
"I'm learning that it's important for me to care." He said. "Especially if I ever want a girlfriend again."
"You're funny."
He just laughed.
"Want to watch tv with me?" I asked.
"Sure." He said smiling.
We went up to my room and I turned on the tv.
